McQueen Men Returning Home to London

Godfrey Deeny
September 12th, 2012 @ 7:19 PM - New York

In a significant coup for London Collections: Men, the house of Alexander McQueen will return to the British capital to present its menswear collection next January.

The homecoming of McQueen follows the decision of Tom Ford to also take his menswear presentation back from Milan to London, adding important momentum to the UK capital’s goal of creating an important men’s fashion runway season.

London Collections: Men debuted in June to considerable acclaim in a long weekend of almost 40 shows that opened with a reception by Prince Charles and included soirees thrown by mega non-British brands like Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.

“It’s great to be showing our menswear mainline as part of London Collections: Men, especially with London being the home of Alexander McQueen and our first dedicated menswear store opening on Savile Row this autumn,’’ said Alexander McQueen CEO Jonathan Akeroyd in a release.

Debuted in 2004, McQueen’s has been a much-applauded line though without so far garnering a major business.

Added Caroline Rush, CEO British Fashion Council, commented: “We are delighted to announce that Alexander McQueen will be showing their mainline menswear collection at London Collections: Men from January. The schedule will include London’s brightest menswear stars, British heritage and iconic brands, international names and Savile Row tailors to show across the three day celebration of men’s fashion.”

The next London Collections: Men will run from January 7 to 9 in 2013.
