Beauty Trip: Plump Lips 24-7
LIP YOU WANT TO HEAR Paula Conway
March 10th, 2004 @ 11:24 AM - New York, NY
Beauty routines can be come chronic, which is why I try to avoid too many details, like lip plumpers. And anyway, I haven’t met a lip plumper that worked until my friend and beauty publicist Eden Grimaldi introduced me to Plump Lips 24-7. Sure, Plump Lips 24-7 is her client, but even she will tell you that I don’t endorse a product I don’t believe in. How many times she tried to get me to write something positive about a well known dermatologist whose name rhymes with “Silicone” and I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Dr. Silicone’s products always make my skin break out in a horrible rash.
Most lip plumpers either a) don’t work or b) burn my lips and mouth area so severely it looks like I have third degree burns with and a red ring lining my mouth. And like my editor and comrade on all things beauty at FWD, I want products to work so I can sing their praises, and even more importantly, be a more beautiful, well, ME. So along comes Plump Lips 24-7: I massage the clear fluid into my lips and Poof! Just like that, I’m tingling and swelling up like a balloon. I’m Agelina Jolie, no, Julia Roberts, no, Angelina, and back and forth I go on which actress with thick lips I liken myself to with my new lips. Then my mother walks in.
“What’s wrong with your mouth?” she says, staring at my lips.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Did something bite you? Your lips are swollen.” With that, I wonder if having plump lips makes me beautiful or freakish. I’m not so sure now. But when I explain to my mother that I used some lip plumper she grabs the tube and slaps some on herself.
“Wow, this stuff really works,” she says puckering and posing.
But here’s the twist, I don’t even want big lips. I never wanted a lip plumper because I wanted to pump up my mouth; I was just frustrated because I couldn’t find one that actually worked. So now that I’m satisfied that there is indeed a lip plumper that can do the job, I can give my tube away and sleep at night.
Plump Lips 24-7 costs $40 and is available at Henri Bendel’s, Zitomers and Pure Beauty in NYC. Or call 1-877-Freeze4U for outlets.
