Burberry Names Malgouyres US PR Director
September 03rd, 2007 @ 00:41 AM - Paris
Burberry has appointed Alex Malgouyres to be its new Director of US Public Relations, filing a position left vacant since June.
The popular and gentlemanly Malgouyres will oversee all Burberry PR initiatives in the US, based in Burberry's Sixth Avenue US headquarters in New York. He replaces John Cross, who left the company end June.
Malgouyres, whose new appointment took effect on Sept. 1, has been with Burberry since 2003, when he was based in Paris and in charge of public relations for France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Switzerland.
“It’s exciting to be in New York. Working here in North America will be a great challenge and great learning experience,” Malgouyres told FWD.
Prior to joining Burberry, Malgouyres worked in the Paris offices of KCD, fashion's leading agency in public relations.
During his time at KCD, he was responsible for handling press relations for Alexander McQueen in France and Italy and also worked with Lacoste and Helmut Lang fragrances and in the organization of Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Helmut Lang shows in Milan and Paris.
Malgouyres will report jointly to Sarah Manley, Senior Vice President of Global PR & Communications, who is based in the Burberry Head Office in London and Eugenia Ulasewicz, President Burberry USA.
While in Paris, Malgouyres, 33, also established a great reputation for his evening "job" as host and DJ of the monthly dance and performance party Sandwich.
New Yorkers will get their first chance to hear Alex wax the stacks on Sept. 9, when he DJs at Cielo in The Meatpacking District, in a soiree organized by hipster party tigers Quohnos International, where Malgouyres is heralded as a DJ from Paris, France - no less.
Talk about hitting the tarmac running.
