Swag Suite Fever!
Jenny Peters
August 25th, 2006 @ 2:49 PM
The Emmys are right around the corner, which means that swag suite fever is in full fever all over Los Angeles, from Westwood to Century City, Beverly Hills to Hollywood. You need a scorecard just to keep up with who went where when - we hear Britney Spears hit the Primary Action suite in BH, while Keira Knightley hit the Silver Spoon "Hollywood Buffet," but we haven't made it that far east yet.
Instead, we choose the ecologically correct "Ultimate Green Room," benefiting the Children's Health Environmental Coalition at the W Hotel in Westwood, where natural and holistic ruled, right down to the Mod Mix cocktails, made with organic vodka and mixers.
Environmentalist Daryl Hannah took in the Yoga Works booth, checked out the non-leather Mink shoes, and enjoyed treatments at the Green Bliss Eco spa, a mobile spa that offered everything from massage and facials to manicures and pedicures.
Jean Smart, Andrea Bowen, and Sharon Lawrence tried out Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics and Lavera's anti-aging formula, and Bobby Trendy, Stephen Root, Melora Hardin, and Vanessa Williams sipped the Art of Tea's tasty blends and marveled at Deborah King's "Truth Heals" chakra shifting technique.
Meanwhile, over at the Extra! Emmy Suite at the Hyatt Regency Century City, it was more about classy style, as high-end companies filled the Presidential Suite. Giorgio Armani offered perfumes and cosmetics, while Jessica Elliott Jewelry showed her signature key motif collection. There were sunglasses for the afternoon Emmy red carpet by SEE Eyewear, and beautiful Cameron Nicole evening handbags for those little necessities needed while making the Emmy scene.
There were plenty of clothing items that wouldn't be exactly appropriate for the red carpet, too, from Spoylt's sexy silk robes to those ultra-trendy, multi-colored Crocs. There were brilliantly hued, shearling-lined slippers by Patricia Green and really cute Sleepyhead flannel pajamas, and even some goodies for dogs from Vegas Rock Dog, Pup-Pup Designs, and Hyde Bark Fashions.
Plus, like all gifting suites these days, there were plenty of good things to eat and drink, many from the Napa Valley. From sublime Woodhouse Chocolates, yummy St. Helena Olive Oil Company oils, a wonderful selection of Stags Leap District wines (including Hartwell, Taylor Family, and Clos du Val), steaming cups of Tea Forte and Keurig-brewed coffees, and delicious nibbles created by Chef Dave Martin, it was easy to spend all afternoon sipping, eating, and chatting in the jam-packed suite.
Television stars including Allyson Hannigan, Neil Patrick Harris, Cheryl Hines, Khandi Alexander, Kathy Griffin, and Maggie Grace checked out the Grand Avenue Baby booth, where the new Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera was a big winner, as well as the Munchkin iCRIB, a sound system that uses an iPod to play tunes for baby.
Also doing the Extra swag sweep were Paige Davis from "Trading Spaces” and Ed Sanders of "Extreme Makeover;" guess an Emmy suite is as good a place as any to get ideas for reality shows!
