Dior, Chanel and Van Assche in Action Innocence Project
April 24th, 2006 @ 12:12 AM - Paris
The latest designer to support Action Innocence, the pan-European struggle against child pornography on the web, is Kris Van Assche.
Joining the likes of Christian Dior and Chanel, the young Belgium designer has created a rare diamond pin, which will be auctioned along with items from major brands this Wednesday in Paris.
Founded by Valérie Wertheimer in November 1999, Action Innocence aims to raise young people's awareness about risks of naivety on the web. High-profile actress and beauty Laetitia Casta is Marianne of both France and Action Innocence - the Marianne is mythical female figure that symbolizes the republic.
France's First Lady Bernadette Chirac will host the gala dinner Wednesday in the Jardin d'Acclimatation of Paris, when the president of Christie's Europe, François Curiel, will work the gravel at the auction. The event marks the first major fundraiser by Action Innocence in France, which already has organization fighting against pedophilia in Belgium, Switzerland and Monaco.
Van Assche is the first men's designer to create an item for the auction: working with jeweler Dominique Muller, Kris dreamt up a safety pin piercing a nut made in gray gold encrusted with gray diamonds.
Some for 400 people are expected to attend the soiree and auction, which will also feature watches provided by Piaget and Vacherin Constantin.
The evening will also feature a performance by Natasha St.Pier, the pouty Canadian chanteuse.
Earlier this year, France's biggest eyeglass chain owner Alain Afflelou began retailing 200,000 mauve bracelets designed to raise kids awareness, part of a plan to create one million of them bearing the logo "Sur le Net, moi j'fé gaf," or Watch Out on the Web.
