Game On at Lacoste

Simone Goller
September 13th, 2009 @ 00:11 AM - New York

Lacoste, as a brand known most commonly known for their sporty colorful polos and leisurewear staples like cable knit sweaters and khakis, has much to offer to even those not athletically inclined for spring 2010.

Creative Director Christophe Lemaire opened the third day of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week on Saturday Sept., 12, with guests arriving to an elevated wood-planked boardwalk looming above a blue carpet, evoking the light, casual, and laid back atmosphere of the next warm season which inspired the line. Commencing the show with tennis white separates for both him and her, jewel-toned green and blue looks in the lineup enhanced the lack of pigment in attires seen earlier.

Lemaire's women's wear was impressive in variety and choice as styles included boat-neck, one shouldered and off-the-shoulder tops with wide and flouncy skirts and bottoms, to easily transition to evening with sex appeal. Fabric was light and airy, and at times oversized so nothing hung too close to the body, perfectly giving slack for those cool summer breezes. The one piece look was the most energizing theme with short suits, pants suits, sporty striped t-shirt dresses and a hooded denim shirt dress that couldn't be more appropriately, comfortably chic.

The show closed with all the models completely clad in fluorescent yellow from head to toe, including sunglasses, which was a bright reminder of the labels mantra, a finale that was "simply sporty chic."

Those that generally prefer runway looks rather than ones found on the court will undoubtedly find something to love this spring at Lacoste.
