Details Shine at 7 For All Mankind

The problem with boyfriend jeans is that a woman who wants to wear them usually has to put up with a less-than-ideal fit – they’re made for a man, not a woman’s curves, after all. But several denim brands, like 7 For All Mankind, Curent/Elliot and J Brand have set out to create the look and feel of that perfectly worn-in pair of jeans stolen from the boyfriend’s closet, but with a fit that flatters.

That style was just one of many premium denim trends on view at Los Angeles-based 7 For All Mankind’s fall 2009 presentation on Thursday, March 12 in New York, along with textured pockets, corded denim, gray washes, denim and artfully distressed limited edition “7*7*7” series for the denim-obsessed, of which only 777 pairs are made.

Beyond boyfriend jeans, this fall 7 For All Mankind will also introduce the “boyfriend shirt” in washed denim, chambray and plaid. Like their version of boyfriend jeans, the shirt has all the loose comfort of a man’s shirt, but nipped in just enough to avoid the swimming-in-fabric look.

For those who’d rather eschew loose, casual denim, “Second Skin,” made from sleek four way stretch knit, does exactly what it says – hugs the skin like leggings, but with the look of denim.

Rounding out the denim looks are fashion pieces ranging from next season’s hot motorcycle jacket, to skinny stretch knit blazers, a silver sequined bolero, knit rompers and silky halter tops.
