Beyonce's Star Turn in "Dreamgirls"
FWD
December 05th, 2006 @ 11:46 AM - New York
Beyonce Knowles has proven that she's more than just a musical sensation as guests watched the singer light up the silver screen at the film premiere of "Dreamgirls" on Monday, December 4 in New York.
Knowles and fellow "Dreamgirls" co-stars Anika Noni Rose and Jennifer Hudson each wore festive floor-length gowns. A gathered and jewel-studded waistline hugged the curves on Hudson's long-sleeve white gown, while Rose looked elegant in a black strapless dress.
No stranger to the limelight, Beyonce Knowles looked in top form in a blush-hued tulle gown with caplet sleeves from the Elie Saab Couture Autumn/Winter 05-06 collection.
The "Dreamgirls" trio were joined on the red carpet by co-stars Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, as well as Selita Ebanks, Adriana Lima, Sharon Leal, Natasha Richardson, Queen Latifah and Vanessa Minnillo.
Set in the 1960s to mid-70s, "Dreamgirls" follows the drama, hope, and fame of a trio of singers Effie (Jennifer Hudson), Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) and Deena (Beyonce Knowles) as they struggle find the spotlight. After they're discovered at a talent show by manager Curtis Taylor, Jr. (Jamie Foxx), the girls soon find themselves singing back-up for crooner James "Thunder" Early (Eddie Murphy). With their quick rise to fame and fortune, however, the girls soon realize that their fortune comes at a cost.
"Dreamgirls" hits theaters on Friday, December 15.
