Controlled Madness at the "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" Premiere
Jenny Peters
June 25th, 2010 @ 11:05 AM - Los Angeles
The screams echoed off the downtown skyscrapers of the City of Angels on Thursday, June 24, as hordes of "Twilight" fans massed outside the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live, jockeying for a glimpse of their favorite vampire or werewolf. And the ones that camped out for days for a front row position behind the barricades were rewarded, as the series' stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner not only attended the Los Angeles Film Festival premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," but happily posed for photos with those "Twihards."
It was the hottest ticket of the summer blockbuster movie events, and plenty of Hollywood stars turned out to see the much-anticipated third movie of the "Twilight" series. The film's other popular actors turned out in force, from the vampire coven that includes Peter Facinelli, Ashley Green, Kellan Lutz, Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and newcomer Bryce Dallas Howard to the werewolf pack of Alex Meraz. Bronson Pelletier, Kiowa Gordon and Julia Jones. Plus, the assorted humans of "Eclipse" made the mad scene as well, from Billy Burke to Anna Kendrick, Christian Serratos and Michael Welch.
Starring in such a popular series might seem overwhelming, but as Stewart told reporters at a jam-packed press conference earlier, "obviously, this is the one role that's put me in this sort of epic position. But it's just another movie and I think it doesn't matter if you're doing a studio movie or you're doing an independent movie. When you get to the set and you're doing a scene, it's always going to be the same job. I really don't think about my career in terms of planning it out and what this does for me. This was a part that I just really wanted to play and luckily I got to do it for a really long time."
There are two more "Twilight Saga" films in the pipeline, so Stewart will get to play Bella Swan for a while longer, and she'll have to keep dressing up for the glamorous premieres for years to come. But that doesn't mean she has to like it. Stewart walked the red carpet in a skin-tight white embroidered wool mini dress with a cutout back and matching white stiletto heels, but as soon as the movie began to unspool, she quickly changed for the after party into skinny jeans, a tank top and low sneakers.
But the rest of the excited attendees, like AnnaLynne McCord, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Lance Bass, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Evan Lysacek and the "Twilight Saga" author Stephanie Meyer kept their party clothes on and celebrated late into the night.
