Chris Rock Parties with ALL His Wives
March 08th, 2007 @ 1:57 PM - Los Angeles
Funnyman Chris Rock hit the red carpet last night in Hollywood with all of his wives – both his real-life companion Malaak Compton - Rock, and his on-screen spouse Gina Torres – to celebrate the premiere of his new R-rated comedy "I Think I Love My Wife." And the comedian had a lot to celebrate, since he not only stars in the film, but also wrote and directed the tale of a married father of two who fantasizes about having a torrid affair to shake off the boredom of everyday life.
But despite the parallels with his own life, Rock told reporters at an earlier press day in L. A. that the film is not, repeat not, autobiographical.
"It's about a lot of people's lives. It's not like it’s my special life. It's not like I'm just the guy who's married with kids," he said. "Yes, I definitely relate to the character. I've been married for ten years. I have two kids. I live in the suburbs. I commute into the city. All of that stuff. It stops there pretty much."
Ironically, because of his involvement with all aspects of the film, there have recently been a spate of news stories reporting that he and his wife Malaak are breaking up, reports that they together went on the "Oprah" show to refute. It seems that when art imitates life, some people believe it must be the truth.
The family showed a united front at the premiere at the Arclight Theaters in Hollywood, but Rock did admit earlier that he’s like any other person when it comes to encounters with attractive members of the human race.
"I mean, you know, I'm a guy," Rock chuckled. "Everyone sees, you see attractive people everyday. 'She's cute.' You notice them and you keep it moving. Is it autobiographical? No. But who knows about later on?"
Plenty of "cute" friends joined the Rocks for the gala premiere, including beautiful Kerry Washington, who plays the temptress in the piece. She looked stunning in an of-the-moment bright yellow gown with elaborate embroidery across the hem. Looking equally beautiful (but decidedly more casual) were Mary J. Blige and Holly Robinson Peete; and Rock's pals David Spade, Mario Van Peebles, and Laurence Fishburne also made the scene.
